19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.
The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.
Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since March of that year.
The win also signifies he has secured 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, comprising in Halle previously this season.
The player's defensive approach and recurring emotional displays on court had caused observers to question if his skill to perform at the highest level was finished.
However the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete assertively, supported by an enhanced serve.
The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial tour championship, took control to push for a final set.
The opponent rescued four early-game break points in a close third set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.
Suitably, he secured victory with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
